The Given Collective

Nightmares have Dreams Too.

So a while back a posted about a vinyl toy show that I was taking part in, in association with Vinyl Destination and Exposure Gallery. Well below you can see my piece and the toys from the show have just gone on sale on the internet today. You can BUY my piece here and at a starting bid of R500 for the toy, camera and a print, that is a DAMN steal!!Oh and I almost forgot, proceeds go to Charity :)

A Special kind of Type

So I am in a real typographic phase lately, with a large amount of my work being centred around the creation of letter forms. As a result I am sure you can expect to see lots of typographic inspiration as it catches my eye on my Internet trawls. These pieces are from Marcelo Schultz.

Olympic Banksy

Banksy takes gold with these two new Olympian inspired pieces, arriving just in time for the opening ceremony on Friday. Brilliant as usual.

A Free State of Creativity

The below is a video promoting Mr Brainwashes latest project. Set to be unveiled on August the 1st, I must say it has me curious. It also has me wondering if perhaps he shall reveal himself as Banksy’s greatest parody. That last image in the clip certainly points to Banksy in a big way, what do you guys think?

Dreams in Focus

The vinyl toy scene in SA is alive and kicking and this Thursday(19th July) we will see South Afria’s first show featuring local as well as International artists. The show is being run by Vinyl Destination and it will be going down at the Exposure Gallery at the Old Biscuit Mill from 6pm till late. Looks like its shaping up to be quite the massive event, definitely not one to miss if you are into vinyl toys, art or just into being in. I will have a piece in the show, so come down and say hi.

Graf Image of the Day

From what I can tell this is by an artist called NERD somewhere in Europe.

Skatingboarding is a Crime

Nice to have some art from a fellow South African for a change, even if I did stumble across it on an international page… These pieces from Gerhard Human were apparently part of an exhibition to help raise both awareness and funds for building a skatepark in Cape Town. The show has already come and gone, which is sad. Reveals that even when you are heavily invested in the local scene, sometimes its still so small it just slips through the cracks.
