Even More Tape Casette Art

A while back we posted on some rad art made from an old tape casette. So when I saw this stuff this morning it just had to go up. Simply brilliant, the creativity level is great and the images truely iconic! Thanks to Robert Smith aka Ghost in the Machine.

Banky’s ?220,000 Masterpiece

Late last week a old battered van pulled up outside Simon Duncan’s West London home. The contents were a surprise to the leader of the band formally known as “Exit through the Gift Shop”. You see Banksy had sent him a gift after accidentally choosing the name as that for his new movie, a kind of settlement if you will. Simon rushed the package inside (measuring the same size as a double bed) to discover a one of a kind Banksy masterpiece. The piece was then insured by Sotheby’s and found to be worth ?220,000! The evaluator had this to say “This is surreal. I have just been valuing an 18th-century portrait in a stately home, but it is not as valuable as this.”

Tarantino Meet Saul

If you are a designer then you would know the name Saul Bass. In the 50’s he was the go to man for movie title sequences and pretty much revolutionised the business. Some forty years later another revolutionary entered the game in the form of Quentin Tarantino. Now thanks to Hexagonall, we can see what would have happened had these two cinema greats had a chance to collaborate.

Something Charming…

I don’t know what it is, but I find something very charming in these illustrations from “BattlePeach” on Deviant Art. Reminds me of the art from Princess Mononoke. Great detail both in thought and application. Simply charming. Click to make them bigger as usual.

In a perfect world…

These would be on every street corner. If you’re a graffiti artist, adoring fan or the fuzzy 5.0 then the Graffomat may be of some interest to you. As the world’s first graffiti vending machine, it supplies artists with all of the necessities such as markers, caps, gloves, and even ski-masks. Brilliant!

Competition Time

The Given Blog is proud to bring you its first competition in collaboration with “a store” and RVCA. RVCA was founded by PM Tenore, who is also the creative director, and professional surfer, Conan Hayes . The company markets itself as an original combination of art, music, fashion and a modern lifestyle. At the forefront of this goal has been RVCA’s Artist Network Program - a venture established to showcase both renowned and relatively unknown artists. The prize for the comp (as seen below) has been sponsored by local art/culture/clothing and everything else cool store
a store” and is seriously rocking.

So if you want to win then click here for more info!
Please remember that this is open to South African residents only.

Perfect Product Placement

Anything and everything has product placement these days. However this is definately a little different. An artist or group of artists known as TrustoCorp Intl has been dropping rebranded products into Supermarkets and Deli’s all over NY. Absolutely Brilliant, kinda makes you want to take more notice of life and not miss the small details.
